The HARRIS family lived in Shoreditch and Islington but may have originated south of the river since the earliest known ancestor, Charles HARRIS, was of Christchurch in Southwark when he married in 1764.

Charles moved to Shoreditch and his son Henry became a brickmaker in Islington.

Henry's daughter Deborah married Edward NEWMAN at Holborn in 1823 and lived the rest of her life in Bethnal Green
